Examining the Diversion Effects of Casino Gambling

Professor Robert Strauss, along with Heinz School students David Ledet, Chris Maiwurm and Ryan Stokes, are studying the effects of casino gambling on small games of chance. Revenues from small games of chance are often used to support organizations like volunteer fire departments, social clubs and private schools.

Ledet, Maiwurm and Stokes are examining the diversion effects of casinos on local charity games, particularly bingo, as a project for the Public Expenditure Analysis Course taught by Professor Strauss. Their final report will be presented in April.
