MAM Alumnus Founds Epic Change

Stacey Monk MAM 2000 has founded the non-profit organization Epic Change.

Epic Change, recently featured in Florida Today, believes that people’s stories are assets that can be used as resources to improve their lives. Epic Change raises capital through donations and then provides loans to organizations to fund efforts in their communities. They then facilitate loan repayment by helping the communities share their stories through projects that generate income.

A recent project provided a loan to a Tanzanian primary school, allowing them to purchase land and build a new school. The school had previously been on rented property and was forced to move when the landlord sold the land to hotel developers.

Epic Change is currently participating in America's Giving Challenge, a competition that will award $50,000 to participating organizations who are able to inspire the greatest number of donors to each give $10 to their cause by January 31, 2008.
