Honoring a Commitment to the Region
Pennsylvania State Representative Jake Wheatley will deliver the keynote address when Carnegie Mellon University's H. John Heinz III School of Public Policy and Management awards the Stephen M. Lauble Community Fellowship. Each year, one to three students are selected through a competitive process to receive the fellowship, which requires them to intern in Pittsburgh public or nonprofit agencies.
Initiated in 1995, the fellowship was established to encourage the school's students to choose careers that contribute to the economy and environment of Pittsburgh's neighborhoods. The award is given in memory of Steve Lauble, a 1993 Heinz School alumnus whose work exemplified a commitment to the city's economic and neighborhood development.
The ceremony will be held at the Press Briefing Room, PNC Park, on Friday, February 1, 2008, 5 p.m.
