When to Arrive
ARRIVE: Thursday, June 7, 2018/ check-in to room after 12 noon
DEPART: Saturday, July 28, 2018/ check-out of room by 12 noon
All students must arrive on Thursday, June 7, 2018, and depart on Saturday, July 28, 2018. These dates are the required arrival and departure dates in order to check-in to housing and be prepared for required orientation the following morning, and then to attend the graduation activities and check-out of housing. Exceptions are offered on a very limited basis and only when exceptional circumstances beyond your control will prevent you from arriving on time. 2. Flying to Pittsburgh
Carnegie Mellon’s preferred travel agent, People’s Travel, will assist you in making U.S. domestic flight arrangements and bill the university directly for the cost of the ticket. The agency has the list of the incoming IT Lab Fellows and has been informed of your required dates of travel as listed below:
ARRIVE in Pittsburgh on: Thursday June 7, 2018 (before 3:00 p.m.)
DEPART Pittsburgh on: Saturday, July 28, 2018 (must leave the dorm before noon)

Travel from Airport to Campus
The Pittsburgh International Airport is 22 miles from Carnegie Mellon. We recommend that you take the Port Authority Airport Flyer. Port Authority Transit (PAT) 28X Airport Flyer Bus: The bus stops in front of Carnegie Mellon University. The trip takes about 45 minutes and the cost is about $3.25 per traveler (exact change is required). The most recent schedule can be found at http://www.portauthority.org/paac/default.aspx . For additional information or questions, contact PAT at 412-442-2000. A taxi from the airport to CMU is about $65. Uber and Lyft will cost about $40.
3. If Driving to Pittsburgh
Make sure you let us know in advance if you would like to bring a car to campus – we’ll have to make special arrangements so you can park your car on campus for the duration of the program.

Traveling by car from the East − Take the Pennsylvania Turnpike West to Exit 57, Pittsburgh/Monroeville. − Follow Interstate 376 West to Exit 7, Edgewood/Swissvale. − Turn right onto Braddock Avenue (at the end of the ramp). − Continue to the Forbes Avenue -inter-section. (Frick Park will be on the left). − Turn left onto Forbes Avenue and follow Forbes Avenue approximately three miles to campus.
Traveling by car from the West/North − Take the Pennsylvania Turnpike east to Exit 28, Perry Highway. − Follow Interstate 79 South to 279 South (Exit 72). − Follow signs and go over the Fort Duquesne Bridge. − Take 376 East to Exit 2A, Forbes Avenue/ Oakland. − Stay in the right-hand lanes, following Forbes 1.3 miles through the Oakland business district to campus.
Traveling by car from the South − Take Interstate 79 North to 279 North -(Pittsburgh). − Follow 279 North toward Pittsburgh through the Fort Pitt Tunnel and onto the Fort Pitt Bridge. − Once on the bridge, stay in the far right lanes and follow signs for 376 East/Monroeville. −Take 376 East to Exit 2A, Forbes Avenue/ Oakland. − Stay in the right-hand lanes, following Forbes 1.3 miles through the Oakland -business district to campus.
