General Manager at Escapex, Past SVP of Creative Music Integration for MTV
Joe joined escapex as General Manager in 2017. Escapex is a tech startup focused on decentralizing social media via individualized apps, serving actors/musicians/athletes/infuencers that have significant social reach.
Putting monetization and control back into the heads of the creators, escapex has launched apps for Bob Marley, Marc Anthony, Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid), Jeremy Renner and over 100 more global stars. With offices in NY/LA/Mumbai/Rio de Janeiro/Tai Pei/Tel Aviv, escapex is poised to expand further throughout the year. He also recently served as CCO at TuneCore beginning in 2014. In this role he oversaw all Marketing and also directs the operations of TuneCore Music Publishing Administration, which helps songwriters collect 13 different composition royalties from over 60 countries. Joe also established Tunecore/Believe’s US label services operations with his first signing, “Fantastic Negrito” winning the best Contemporary Blues Grammy in 2016.
Joe has worked with independent artists over a 20-year stretch. As a Senior Vice President, during his decade-long tenure at MTV, he established the Creative Music Integration Department, which was responsible for music across all programming. In addition, he launched promotional campaigns that introduced emerging independent artists to the MTV audience. Joe is currently an adjunct professor at Carnegie Mellon University’s Masters In Entertainment Industry Management program. He holds a M.A. Ed. from Azusa Pacific University and B.F.A. / Painting and Drawing from University of North Texas.
