Chris Siefert is the Deputy Director of the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh.
In this role, he manages capital projects and facilities, oversees museum operations and implements community initiatives including the revitalization of Buhl Community Park which opened in 2012 and the Charm Bracelet Project, an initiative to inspire neighboring cultural institutions to collaborate on creative projects related to community life. He directly oversees the Visitor Services, Marketing, New Media [formed in 2009] and Business Development [formed in 2014] Departments. Prior to this appointment, Siefert was Project Manager for the $28M expansion of the Museum (opened 2004) and served as Director of Exhibits for the Museum. He attended the Museum Management Institute [Getty Leadership Institute] in 2000 and in 2013 Siefert was awarded a fellowship from the Noyce Leadership Institute. Before moving to Pittsburgh, Siefert taught sculpture at Louisiana State University, and in the early 1990’s, Siefert worked with interdisciplinary design teams at Cesar Pelli and Associates and Balmori Associates in New Haven, Connecticut on several notable design and landscape architectural projects. In his professional and community work, Siefert regularly presents at conferences and webinars and actively engages issues of the roles for non-profit institutions in their communities. He is currently VP of the Northside Cultural Collaborative, a member of the Allegheny Commons Steering Committee, and President of the Pittsburgh Dynamo Youth Soccer Association. Across his professional and artistic career, Siefert received an AIA Public Space Award, the Times Project Organization Public Artwork Grant, and grants from the Louisiana Division of The Arts amongst other grants, awards, and commissions.
