Rachel Chung

Dr. Tingting (Rachel) Chung is an Associate Teaching Professor in the Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy, Carnegie Mellon University, and a former Clinical Full Professor of Business Analytics at William & Mary. She holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration/Management Information Systems, a Ph.D. in Psychology, and a Master of Science in Information Science, all from the University of Pittsburgh. She earned her bachelor's degree in Psychology from National Taiwan University.

To explain how AI works to the broader audience, Dr. Chung has published the children's book AI the Magic Box with former William & Mary students, and given a TEDx Talk at William & Mary based on this book. Dr. Chung has also authored the textbook AI for Business with former William & Mary student Steven Hojnicki. In 2026, Dr. Chung gave the campus-wide Tack Lecture at William & Mary to illustrate AI's roots in the liberal arts.

Dr. Chung's research has been published in Journal of Management, Journal of Association for Information Systems, Communications of the ACM, Journal of Managerial Psychology, International Journal of Production Economics, and others. She has also given numerous presentations at international conferences, including EAAI, ICIS, ICAIF, AoM, INFORMS, and SIGCSE. Dr. Chung's research has been supported by ACFE Research Institute (ARI), and Blockchain Lab of William & Mary.

Dr. Chung has received the IBM Faculty Award in the Cognitive Computing category, Community Partner of the Year Award, Houston Methodist Hospital, on behalf of INFORMS, Faculty Excellence Award from the Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) program, the online MSBA program, Page Teaching Award for the MSBA program, and MBA Class of 1997 Faculty Award for Innovative Use of Technology, at William & Mary.
