Assistant Teaching Professor of Information Systems

Mariana Escallon-Barrios is an Assistant Teaching Professor of Information Systems

Prof. Escallon-Barrios teaches in the area of Statistics and Data Analysis to support decision-making. She is an active member of the Institute for Operations Research and Management Sciences (INFORMS), where she has served as a student liaison for the Women in OR/MS group.

Prior to joining Carnegie Mellon University, Prof. Escallon-Barrios earned her Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering and Management Sciences from Northwestern University, where she worked on modeling and solution approaches for logistic problems in nonprofit settings. As a graduate student, she received the Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award in 2020 and was the chair of the McCormick Graduate Teaching Committee.
