Jonathan Baker

Jonathan Theodore Baker is a two-time Emmy-nominated producer best known for his work on independent feature films. His credits include The Dutchman (Rogue Pictures), starring Kate Mara, André Holland, Zazie Beetz, Aldis Hodge, and Stephen McKinley Henderson, which premiered at SXSW 2025; The Knife (Relativity Media), starring Nnamdi Asomugha and Oscar winner Melissa Leo, which premiered at Tribeca 2024; Sylvie's Love (Amazon Studios), starring Tessa Thompson, Nnamdi Asomugha, and Eva Longoria; The Banker (Apple TV+), starring Samuel L. Jackson, Anthony Mackie, and Nicholas Hoult, directed by George Nolfi; Crown Heights (Amazon Studios), starring LaKeith Stanfield and winner of the Audience Award at Sundance; and the Emmy-nominated documentary The One and Only Dick Gregory (Showtime), which premiered at Tribeca.

Jonathan most recently directed and executive produced MSNBC Films' GLAAD-nominated documentary Serving in Secret, featuring Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, Secretary Pete Buttigieg, and Rachel Maddow. He is currently in post-production on Hola Mama, a documentary about trafficked babies during the Pinochet dictatorship in Chile. He is a member of the PGA.

On stage, Jonathan produced the national tour of Spamalot and the theatrical adaptations of August Rush and The Harder They Come at The Public Theater.

Before producing independently, Jonathan served as Marketing Manager at Sony Pictures Entertainment, where he worked on numerous wide-release theatrical films, ten of which reached #1 at the box office. Notable titles include Adaptation (dir. Spike Jonze), Big Fish (dir. Tim Burton), Lords of Dogtown (dir. Catherine Hardwicke), Underworld 1 & 2 (dir. Len Wiseman), Stomp the Yard, Premonition, Resident Evil 2 & 3, Silent Hill, The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Oliver Twist (dir. Roman Polanski), Running with Scissors (dir. Ryan Murphy), and Closer (dir. Mike Nichols). Prior to his work in film, he served as a research analyst for Sony's International and Domestic Television departments.

Before joining Sony, Jonathan lived in New York, where he worked on Broadway at the Nederlander Producing Company of America and on Wall Street at Salomon Brothers Asset Management.

A classically trained musician, Jonathan has served as a vocal and performance coach to numerous stars and has taught film economics as an Adjunct Professor at Carnegie Mellon and the University of Bologna for twenty years. As an artist, some may recognize him from the stoner comedy Manifest Destiny Down: Spacetime.

Jonathan trained at the University of Michigan School of Music's musical theatre program, where he directed Tony winner Gavin Creel in Company. His stage credits include performances in 42nd Street, Most Happy Fella, Burn This, Hair!, and Closer Than Ever; he directed Crazy for You and assistant directed The Music Man, also starring Gavin Creel. On screen, he acted in Thank You for Not Smoking, a short film that premiered at the 1997 Sundance Film Festival. He further studied acting and directing at UCLA Extension under the once-infamous Don Richardson.
