Econometrics for Policy

Description

This course will prepare the student to: (1) model social science problems and test them statistically and (2) begin understanding in-house reports and journal articles that use econometrics in order to make informed decisions. Students will accomplish these goals by learning how to tie economic theory to modeling and how statistical modeling works.  Students will discover ways to overcome some of the common problems with using regression analysis.

Learning Outcomes

The course should help the student to:

1,  Develop a better understanding of statistics.

2.   Set up appropriate models for testing social science problems.

3.   Examine statistical reports that employ regression analysis.

Prerequisites Description

90-710 Applied Economic Analysis

 90-707 Statistical Reasoning or 90-711 Statistical Reasoning with R.
