Irene F. McFadden


Irene McFadden has over thirty years of experience in planning, financial and operational management and consulting with hospitals, health systems and non-profit health care organizations. 

Irene is President and owner of IFM Management Services. She has been a consultant for over fifteen years, during which time she has advised hospital, non-profit and physician executives on strategic planning, financial and business matters at prestigious organizations, including but not limited to Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford, Pittsburgh Mercy Health System, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Stanford Hospital & Clinics, Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC Health System, Inova Fairfax Hospital, St. Clair Memorial Hospital (Pittsburgh), and, most recently, Family Hospice and Palliative Care. 

Prior to becoming a consultant, Irene held executive positions at the Allegheny Health, Education and Research Foundation (1996) and The Pittsburgh Mercy Health System (1982 – 1995), where she played key roles in the planning, development and management of hospital-based physician networks. Before assuming roles focused on medical practice development issues, Irene’s health care experience included executive positions in both operations and planning with the Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh (Pittsburgh Mercy Health System), Associate Director of Plan Development with the Health Systems Agency of Southwestern Pennsylvania, and Medical Technologist with The Western Pennsylvania Hospital.

Irene is a past Chair of the Board of Family Hospice and Palliative Care (Pittsburgh, PA) and the Foundation Board of Family Hospice; her service with Family Hospice has spanned a twenty year period. Irene was an Adjunct Instructor of Health Care Financial Management with Carnegie Mellon University’s H. John Heinz III School of Public Policy and Management from 1998 through 2007, and has recently returned to this role.   Irene holds a Master of Science degree in Health Administration from the University of Pittsburgh and a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
