Jared Simmer

Executive Director, The Piedmont Private Adjudication Center

Jared Simmer is an Adjunct Professor in the Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy, teaching courses in negotiation.

Outside of the classroom he is engaged in a full-time arbitration and mediation practice.

Prior to entering private practice, served as Assistant Director of Regulatory Affairs for the Michigan Department of Commerce; Manager of Labor Relations for Duke University/Duke Medical Center, and Assistant Director of the Geneva College Leadership Institute. Previously served as an adjunct professor in the University of Pittsburgh’s Katz Graduate School of Business teaching classes in workplace conflict resolution and negotiation.

Research

Focuses on development of negotiation competency profiles, identification of factors that encourage or inhibit individuals from improving their negotiation skills, efficacy in teaching negotiation, and gender differences in negotiation. Doctoral research explored how men and women’s differing attitudes and beliefs about negotiation influence their negotiating behavior. Contributor to “DNP Role Development for Doctoral Advanced Nursing Practice, Second Edition."
