Jeremy Smith


Adjunct Faculty

Mr. Smith is an Oracle Certified Database Administrator. He works full time for the Facilities Management department of Carnegie Mellon University.

In that position, he is responsible for implementing and managing the work request tracking database which handles approximately 50,000 requests annually from University staff, faculty and administrators.

Mr. Smith also spent a year working in the data center of the National Consortium on Violence Research (NCOVR) in the Heinz School at Carnegie Mellon. In that role, he was part of the team that built and maintained a data warehouse used for violence research throughout the country. He was also involved in building tools to allow researchers to conduct field surveys to further their studies.

Prior to joining the staff at Carnegie Mellon, Mr. Smith spent two years teaching elementary education in the Pittsburgh Public School system.

Mr. Smith received his Bachelors in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Pittsburgh. He continued in the University of Pittsburgh's Graduate School of Education to earn his Pennsylvania teaching certification.

He completed the Master of Public Management program at the Heinz School in Carnegie Mellon University is the Spring of 2000.

In addition to the Oracle Certified Professional, Database Administrator certification, Mr. Smith also received Network Engineer Certification from Novell.
