Kevin Yoder

Kevin Yoder is the past Executive Vice President of Theatrical Strategy for National Research Group (NRG), a global market research and strategy services provider to the entertainment industry.

Kevin started working in the entertainment industry when he founded an off-Broadway, not-for-profit theatre company in New York City. Since the early 1990s, Kevin has worked in marketing research and strategy, focusing on domestic and international theatrical releases. He got his start with internships at the Samuel Goldwyn Company and NRG. He has also worked as part of the management team at MarketCast LLC, serving as managing director, and was primarily responsible for the DreamWorks and Fox accounts.

At NRG, he began working on such titles as Philadelphia and Unforgiven. Hired full-time after a summer internship, he created the industry’s first syndicated international tracking program, the State of Moviegoing (better known as “the Benchmark”). He worked closely with theatrical clients on developing new methodologies to assess and incorporate consumer insights into actionable marketing strategies. He also headed their international practice and served as Chief Analyst before succeeding the company’s founders as its next chief executive. He moved to the studio side of the ledger as Executive Vice President of Marketing Research and Strategy for 20th Century Fox Films, where he oversaw research and strategy for such franchises as Alien, Planet of the Apes, and X-Men, as well as the launch of such successful franchises as Deadpool and Kingsman, and the release of such original titles as Life Of Pi, Hidden Figures, The Martian and The Fault In Our Stars.

Kevin has been a featured speaker at the Shanghai Film Festival Marketing Symposium and authored the chapter on Market Research for Jason Squire’s Movie Business Book. Kevin did his undergrad work at Notre Dame, then returned home to California and took his JD and MFA in film from USC. He aspires to be as much of a couch potato as his golden retriever, but his husband and two kids don't seem to understand the meaning of the words, "I'm taking a break!"
