  • The Housing check-out date/time for IT Lab is: Saturday, August 3 at 12:00PM.

Housing Accommodations
Special housing accommodations/single-room requests will not be granted without a formal accommodation through CMU's Office of Disability Resources (ODR). REU students must work with their licensed medical or mental health provider to submit a University Housing Accommodations Request Form to the Office of Disability Resources. This process can take several weeks to complete so we recommend getting started EARLY. Housing Accommodation Request Forms for students in summer programs must be submitted and approved by the ODR no later than 30-business days prior to the student's date of check-in. Please advise your participants to plan accordingly to allow for adequate processing time when submitting accommodation request(s). If a student submits a housing accommodation form after this deadline, a room meeting the student's accommodation needs may not be available or they may be placed on a waitlist since rooms have already been assigned. Doctor's notes sent directly to CES will not be accepted.

Custodial/Trash
Residents will be responsible for cleaning their rooms/apartments throughout their stay. Cleaning of the building’s common areas will conducted by Custodial Services.

All apartments will be initially set-up with toilet paper and garbage bags. As residents need more supplies, they will be available with the RA residing in Fairfax Apartments (name and location will be provided once the hiring process is finalized).

Residents are responsible for garbage removal from their rooms/apartments. The Fairfax Apartments trash room is located in the basement. There are labeled bins for trash, paper, and plastic/glass. From there, Custodial Services will facilitate emptying these bins and disposing in larger dumpsters outside of the building.

Laundry
Laundry is free and does not require a laundry card in Fairfax Apartments. Laundry machines are available on the ground floor of the building.

Internet/Cable
The Internet in Fairfax Apartments is CMU Wi-Fi wired throughout the building. There is one cable connection provided per apartment.

Lock-Outs
For any lock-outs during business hours, residents should visit the CES Summer Housing Guest Services Office (1st Floor of Stever House - 1030 Morewood Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15213) to obtain a temporary housing key until The HUB is able to provide a replacement (see ID Card section below). For any lockouts after 5:00pm during the week, or anytime on the weekends, participants will need to call University Police on the non-emergency line 412-268-6232 for assistance with gaining access to their apartments/rooms.

Mailbox
If you would like to have access to a mailbox throughout the duration of IT Lab, please contact Brittany Foster (brittanf@andrew.cmu.edu) by May 15th.
