Enrolling Student Portal

We are thrilled you have selected Carnegie Mellon University’s Heinz College for your graduate studies!

Between now and the start of classes, you will need to navigate through a series of enrollment and onboarding procedures, as well as New Student Orientation. This portal was designed to help you follow the steps necessary to be prepared for the start of the semester.

Your Orientation portal is expected to open in early-May.

First Steps to Complete

  • 1. Complete the Enrolling Student Checklist

Complete the Enrolling Student Checklist here.

Deadline to Complete: Please see details on the Enrolling Student Checklist page.

  • 2. Activate your Andrew User ID

After you have accepted your offer of admission by submitting the response form (and paid the enrollment deposit, if required), you will receive an email with the Subject: “Action Required: Your Andrew userID Has Been Created” from Follow the directions in that email. Expect this email within 2 weeks of accepting the offer of admission. (If you have a current Andrew ID, ignore and delete this email).

The email will provide instructions on how to receive your Andrew userID, set a password, and enroll in two-factor authentication (2fa) with DUO, Carnegie Mellon’s multi-factor authentication service provider.  Please be sure to check your spam folder, in the event the email does not appear in your inbox.

Your "Andrew ID" is REQUIRED to login to university services such as SIO, Canvas, and HealthConnect.

If you misplaced or did not receive this email, please email and request an "Andrew replacement email."

Please note: your activated Andrew userID will be required to successfully complete all of the subsequent steps on this checklist.

Deadline: Within 5 days of receiving the “Action Required: Your Andrew userID Has Been Created” from email.

  • 3. Complete the Credentials Verification Process (If Required)

Heinz College reserves the right to require all admitted students to successfully complete the Credentials Verification Process to be eligible to enroll. The purpose of this verification process is to protect all stakeholders of the program (including students, faculty, staff and alumni) from those who would falsify their backgrounds to gain an unfair advantage in the admission process.

Students required to complete a verification will be notified via email by the Heinz College Office of Admission closer to the start of the semester.

If required, complete the credentials verification process after you receive an email message from "Carnegie Mellon University - Heinz College <>" with subject line Credential Verification Disclosure and Authorization Form.

Timeline to receive this email: Click here for more details
    • Mid-September

Please Note: ProVerify will contact your recent employers and application recommenders shortly after you submit the Disclosure and Authorization Form. We recommend that you make your recent employers and recommenders aware of this in advance.

Deadline to Complete: Within 14 days of receiving the email
