Chubb Cyber COPE® Insurance Certification (CCIC) Program Information

We welcome opportunities to collaborate with your organization. Drawing on the proven curricula of our open-enrollment executive certificate programs—including the CRO, CIDO, CISO, CDAIO and LEAAID certificates—our faculty and instructional designers customize and adapt this content to meet your specific mission, needs, and challenges.

Across finance, insurance, critical infrastructure, and other data-driven industries, we collaborate with partners to design customized learning experiences that strengthen cybersecurity readiness, enhance risk management capabilities, and equip professionals to make sharper, faster, and more informed decisions in the face of evolving cyber threats.

  • Cybersecurity Foundations & Technical Literacy

  • Risk, Governance & Resilience Frameworks

  • Cyber Insurance & Portfolio Analysis

  • Applied Communication & Advisory Skills

Developed jointly by Chubb and CMU’s Heinz College Executive Education team, the CCIC curriculum brings together CMU’s proven executive education modules in cybersecurity, risk management, and technology leadership with Chubb’s deep expertise in cyber underwriting and claims.

Over eight months, participants build foundations in cybersecurity concepts, governance frameworks, threat dynamics, and cyber resilience, then apply these insights through sector-specific learning and hands-on analysis.

The program also integrates insurance-focused modules that translate technical risk into practical guidance for underwriting, client advisory, and portfolio evaluation. Through this applied, interdisciplinary structure, brokers and agents gain a rigorous toolkit for assessing cyber risk and advising clients with clarity and confidence.

The Chubb CCIC program is a case study.

  • Chubb sought to elevate the cyber fluency of brokers advising large and complex clients.
  • Together, we built an eight-month, multi-modal program blending cybersecurity, governance, risk management, and insurance-specific content.
  • The program now serves as the gold standard for cyber insurance advisory training and has produced a vetted, high-caliber cohort of specialists.

"Before selecting Carnegie Mellon University’s Heinz College, we evaluated potential partnerships across a wide range of post-secondary institutions. What ultimately set CMU apart was its integrated approach to cyber risk and, more importantly, the depth and continuity of the team behind it. CMU assembled a diverse group of experts to build the CCIC Program and has remained an active partner throughout the program’s evolution. Since the program’s launch in 2018, we have worked together to continuously refine the curriculum to address emerging cyber risks, supported by a stable and committed faculty team that has partnered with us every step of the way."
