Empowering Chubb brokers and agents to assess cyber risk with confidence through advanced training in cybersecurity, governance, and resilience, delivered by Carnegie Mellon University’s Heinz College in a customized program built on industry-leading expertise in cyber risk management.
The cyber insurance market operates in an environment where threats evolve faster than most organizations can respond. From ransomware and data breaches to third-party exposures and regulatory scrutiny, the ability to understand and evaluate cyber risk has become essential to advising clients and protecting organizational resilience. Yet translating complex technical threats into accurate underwriting insight and actionable guidance remains one of the most significant challenges in today’s cyber risk landscape.
The Cyber COPE® Insurance Certification (CCIC) program, developed in partnership with Chubb, equips brokers and agents with the knowledge, tools, and frameworks needed to navigate this complexity with confidence. Through an eight-month curriculum that covers cybersecurity foundations, cyber risk and resilience management, incident response, cyber law and regulation, and the development of tailored insurance solutions, participants learn how to assess risk more effectively, communicate with executive-level clients, and strengthen advisory relationships.
Developed and delivered by Carnegie Mellon University’s Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy—an internationally recognized leader in cybersecurity, technology management, and risk analysis—this program provides an applied, interdisciplinary foundation for elevating cyber insurance practice. Participants engage with expert faculty, examine real-world threat scenarios, and apply new skills directly to the clients and portfolios they support.
Cyber risk is accelerating. Learn to stay ahead of it.
Before selecting Carnegie Mellon University’s Heinz College, we evaluated potential partnerships across a wide range of post-secondary institutions. What ultimately set CMU apart was its integrated approach to cyber risk and, more importantly, the depth and continuity of the team behind it. CMU assembled a diverse group of experts to build the CCIC Program and has remained an active partner throughout the program’s evolution. Since the program’s launch in 2018, we have worked together to continuously refine the curriculum to address emerging cyber risks, supported by a stable and committed faculty team that has partnered with us every step of the way.Kathleen Wooldridge, SVP, Manager – Chubb Agency Education
With eight cohorts and more than 300 alumni since 2018, Carnegie Mellon University and Chubb have established a proven model for strengthening cyber risk expertise across the insurance industry.
